Vision

To be the foremost youth leadership development organization in our society.

Our History

More Than 25 Years of Impactful Leadership

Junior Chamber International Aso, a leading affiliate of Junior Chamber International, was founded in the year 2000 with a vision for excellence and aspiration to be one of the best in Africa and the best in the world. Established from the Abuja Metro Chamber of Commerce and formally referred to as the Aso Chamber of Commerce, our sole objective is to identify people and provide enabling opportunities for self-discovery, leadership development, and capacity enhancement needed to tackle various emerging challenges within the Federal Capital Territory.

Junior Chamber International Aso was founded by visionary leaders whose aim was to build an organization that would produce individuals who maintain a high level of professionalism in their chosen careers, accomplished businessmen and women, and most importantly, individuals with compassion, care, and zeal to serve humanity.

Over time, we have thrived on four key areas of developmental opportunities:

  • Business Development and Entrepreneurship Development
  • Individual Development
  • Community Development
  • International Development Opportunities

We have soared under the wings of our founding fathers and leaders, JCI Senators Mustapha Adekola, GWO Soaga, and Abu Sanni, and have steadily built a sustainable structure drawing inspiration from the League of Presidents who have served JCI Aso for Twenty-Four (24) years and counting.

Our commitment to excellence and zest for leadership has been instrumental in the emergence of two JCI Nigeria Presidents:

  • JCI Senator Babajide Richard Ojo — 2017 President, JCI Nigeria
  • JCI Senator Attairu Abdullahi Bala — 2023 President, JCI Nigeria

As we deepen our collective resolve for excellence and service to humanity, we salute our founding fathers, leaders, amazing members, and all stakeholders who have contributed to the growth of the organization.

About JCI

JCI’s story begins with Henry Giessenbier Jr., a young man living in St. Louis, Missouri, USA, during a time of incredible growth and change. Giessenbier recognized the talents and passions of the young people around him, and envisioned the positive change they could create if they had the right resources. To provide these tools, in 1915 he founded the first JCI movement in the St. Louis area. What began as a local movement spread quickly, and with enthusiasm. Young people across the United States and then across the globe joined together to create positive forces in their communities on a local, national and international scale.

Giessenbier saw JCI as an organization that could harness the energy of young leaders to overcome a variety of civic challenges. JCI members would have the opportunity to develop as individuals, contribute to the prosperity of economic infrastructure through entrepreneurship, understand and appreciate the social dynamics that enable community problem-solving and promote goodwill, cooperation and understanding amongst all people. That enduring vision lives on through the organization today.

Mission

To provide leadership development opportunities that empower young people to create positive change.

Vision

To be the foremost global network of young leaders.
